Company Profile In order to find out the power solution for long term operation, ITRI/ MCL fuel cell group has participated in the development of MEA, stack and power generator integration of PEMFC and DMFC for a long time. DMFC power system has been developed to apply in the outdoor monitoring system for powering. PEMFC system with light weight and high power has been used in drone application to provide long endurance power. The flight time of PEMFC drone is 2~3 times more than that of LIB drone in the same weight. The higher efficiency hybrid power technique integrated with UAV has been developed to provide the stable power of FC and LIB for long endurance flight. The optimized components and integration of fuel cell systems have been developed to satisfy the power need of UAV, such as multiple stacks, BOP components, mechanical assembly, light weight FC system integration and so on. So far, Fuel cell powered helicopter have been developed and passed the special inspection certification of the Civil Aviation Administration. Continuously, the mountain flight over 3,000 m height and across sea flight longer than 88km for emergency medicine delivery demo have also been completed. The accumulation distance of fuel cell power helicopter has been flown over 1,000 km. That shows the flight stability and safety for drone application. Meanwhile, ITRI/MCL has developed PEMFC products including membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) and MEA integrated stacks, which can be applied for backup power/UAV/mobile vehicle use. ITRI/MCL MEAs/stack benefit from ITRI's patented material/ structure design and can be steadily operated under various humidified/non-humidified environments. The power generated by ITRI's MEAs outperforms mainstream products in the market. The MEA products are all mass production ready and customizable as customer requires. Due to the construction and advancement of MEA and stack technology, the development of fuel cell stack and system can extent to high power needs application. The power generator for the mobile vehicles can overcome the short mileage issues of electric vehicles. The hydrogen energy R&D and testing center which can provide the domestic high-power fuel cell technology R&D and testing capability and create Taiwan's hydrogen energy technology innovation and R&D base will be built simultaneously. In addition, ITRI/MCL also has developed AEMEL related technologies including catalysts and its electrode, MEA, stack and electrolysis system, etc. and EHP hydrogen purification system to provide the durable, stable, low carbon emission and safe hydrogen. By designing customized electrolytic stack, and integrating optimized BOP components, thermal management, hydrogen supply pressure, and hydrogen production system integration, we achieve low energy consumption and high-efficiency hydrogen production to facilitate the industrial hydrogen blending applications. Currently, the technology development and system construction of a 10 kW AEMEL hydrogen production system has been completed. In the future, the AEMEL specification will be upgraded to the 25kW, 100kW or even MW hydrogen production systems. That will be able to produce cheap and low-carbon green hydrogen when the AEMEL systems combine with green power energy. Meanwhile, EHP purification system has also been developed to provide the processing capacity of 65 Nm3/h with N2/H2 mixing gas, higher recovery rate of 90% and lower power consumption of 2 kWh/kg-H2.
